SCOUTING THE DRAGONS
- Drexel has dropped six of its last seven to fall to 3-14 (1-5 CAA) this year after a pair of losses at Hofstra (69-61) and Towson (69-50) last week.
- The Dragons have spent much of their season on the road, playing nine of their 17 contests on opposing teams' floors and an additional two games at a neutral site. Drexel has gone 1-8 in true road games, with its sole victory coming against in-town foe La Salle (66-53) back on Dec. 5.
- Senior guard Tavon Allen, a Preseason All-CAA Honorable Mention pick this year, leads the Drexel offense with 13.4 points per game thus far. Freshman guard Terrell Allen chips in 10.5 points per game and leads the Dragons with 3.0 assists per contest.
SERIES HISTORY
- Drexel holds a commanding 18-8 lead across the two teams' 26-game all-time series, helped greatly by the fact that the Dragons opened the series with a 12-game win streak. Since then, the Dukes have won eight of the 14 contests.
- JMU is 4-1 against Drexel in the last five games at the JMU Convocation Center, with a 63-56 setback on Feb. 8, 2012, serving as the only blemish in the last half-decade. The Dukes swept last year's season series, besting the Dragons in a 54-35 defensive struggle in Philadelphia before capturing an 82-78 win in Harrisonburg on Feb. 18.
- In that contest, then-junior guard Ron Curry poured in 25 points, including an impressive 13-for-16 performance from the free throw line, and then-sophomore forward Tom Vodanovich added a career-high 18 as the Dukes shot a remarkable 15-for-18 (83.3%) in the second half to win their fourth straight contest.
LAST TIME OUT
- James Madison climbed out of a six-point hole in the final five minutes of regulation and went on to earn an 86-82 overtime victory at preseason Colonial Athletic Association favorite Hofstra at the Mack Sports Complex on Jan. 21.
- The Dukes, who held the high-powered Hofstra offense to just 36% (27-for-75) shooting from the field and 22.9% (8-for-35) shooting from three, improved to 14-5 (4-2 CAA) with their third straight win. JMU moved into a six-way tie for first place in the league and is 6-0 in road games for the first time in program history.
- Junior guard Shakir Brown and junior forward Yohanny Dalembert both posted double-doubles, marking the second time this season that both players have pulled off the feat in the same game.
