HARRISONBURG, Va. – Two second-half goals lifted James Madison men's soccer to a 2-1 comeback victory over Delaware on Wednesday night at Sentara Park.
Freshman forward Brennen Burtonscored the go-ahead goal in the 82nd minute, running onto a long ball from redshirt sophomore forward/midfielder Billy Metzlerand lifting the ball past the oncoming goalkeeper. The tally marked Burton's first career goal and Metzler's team-high third assist.
Metzler tied the game in 49th minute with his first goal of the season. He won a loose ball at midfield, dribbled through the Delaware defense and ripped a left-footed shot from 20 yards off the left post and into the net. The attacker from Fairfax, Va. had entered the game less than four minutes prior.
The Dukes snapped a 12-game winless streak to improve to 1-8-3 overall and 1-2-2 in Colonial Athletic Association play. The Blue Hens fell to 8-4-1 on the year and 3-2-0 in the CAA.
Delaware took the lead in the 35th minute when Marco Siverio volleyed a shot off the post and in after a deflected long throw-in.
The match was an even affair, with both teams registering 10 shots. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Kyle Mortonmade three saves, while his brother, Todd, made four saves for Delaware.

The Dukes return to Sentara Park on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. to host the Northeastern Huskies in another crucial CAA game. Saturday is Senior Day, and Coward, Morton and Callum Hillwill be honored before the match.
