BROOKLINE, Mass. - James Madison could not rally from a 2-0 halftime deficit on Sunday afternoon, as the Dukes dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision to Northeastern in the Colonial Athletic Association regular season finale at Parsons Field.
Â
The Dukes fell to 8-10 (5-4 CAA) in the loss, despite racking up 16 shots and four corner kicks, but assured themselves of another home match by picking up the third seed in the CAA Tournament. Northeastern clinched the CAA regular-season title with the win, improving to 12-6-1 (7-2 CAA).

Senior
Ashley Herndon scored for the fifth time in six matches and led the Dukes with a match-high six shots. Senior
Allie Bunner and sophomore
Stephanie Hendrie each added three shots and a shot on goal each for JMU.
Â
Northeastern forward Hannah Rosenblatt scored both goals for the Huskies, opening the scoring in just the third minute when she cut in from the left side and finished across frame. She would complete her brace in the 36th minute, taking a touch at the top of the box, turning and firing a right-footed shot in just inside the left post.
Â
Herndon did her part to spark a rally after the break, cutting the lead to 2-1 in the 66th minute. After Hendrie fired a 20-yard shot that rattled the crossbar, Herndon was first to the rebound, heading a shot into a mostly-open net to halve the deficit with less than half an hour to play, but the Dukes would get no closer.
Â
Freshman goalkeeper
Hannah McShea tallied four saves for the Dukes in the opening half of play, while sophomore
Olivia Miller was forced to record just one in the second half. Northeastern goalkeeper Nathalie Nidetch posted four saves in the win.
