TOWSON, Md. - Senior midfielder Allie Bunner's goal in the 101st minute secured a 2-1 comeback victory in double overtime for James Madison women's soccer (6-8, 3-2 CAA) at Towson (5-9-1, 2-3 CAA) on Saturday afternoon.
Â
Her first goal of the season, Bunner juked a defender on a failed Tiger clear and fired home the decisive goal, her first of the season. Senior forward Sydney Braun-McLeod earned an assist on the play in the second golden-goal overtime period.
Â
The game sat tied 0-0 at halftime, with JMU leading TU in shots 11-7. The Tigers, however, scored on a rebound just 16 seconds into the second stanza to take the first lead. Their advantage stood until senior forward Ashley Herndon headed home a goal in the 79th minute off a low, hard cross by sophomore Steffi Page.
Â
JMU outshot Towson 24-12, including a 6-1 advantage during the 10:33 of overtime played. The two teams were nearly even in shots-on-goal, with the Dukes taking a final 9-8 edge. The win went to sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Miller, who recorded two saves across 35 minutes, splitting time with freshman keeper Hannah McShea (65:25), who made four saves and allowed one goal.

QUOTING COACH LOMBARDO
"This was a gutty performance, especially by our seniors. Ashley's game-tying goal was a clinical finish and the combination of Sydney and Allie on the game-winner was fun to watch. Senior leadership at this time of the year gets you to post-season play and we're glad to see them step up."
