SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS
- UNCW has reeled off a school-record 10 straight wins, with all but two coming by 10 points or less, to climb to first place in the league with a 19-5 (11-2 CAA) mark in 2015-16.
- Across their 10-game win streak, the Seahawks have won just three contests at Trask Coliseum to raise their record to 10-1 on their home court. Their lone loss in Wilmington came back on Jan. 2 in a 65-63 setback against Northeastern.
- Junior guard Chris Flemmings continues to pace the high-powered UNCW offense with 16.6 points per game on 53.4% shooting from the field, while leading the Seahawks in rebounding with 6.2 boards per contest. Junior guard Denzel Ingram (12.9), senior guard Craig Ponder (10.9) and four-time CAA Rookie of the Week C.J. Bryce (11.6) all join Flemmings in double-digit scoring, while sophomore guard Jordon Talley marshals the offense with 4.2 assists per game.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Seahawks have won three straight over JMU to stake themselves a 36-33 lead in the all-time series between the schools as the two squads head into their 70th meeting on Saturday afternoon.
- The teams have identical 19-12 marks on their respective home courts, with UNCW holding a 5-2 lead on neutral floors.
- Earlier this season, the Dukes dropped a 78-73 decision to the Seahawks on Jan. 28 in Harrisonburg, a contest that saw JMU cut a 15-point UNCW lead with 4:48 to play down to three in the final minute. Senior guard Ron Curry racked up a then-career high 28 points in the loss, a mark he has since broken.
LAST TIME OUT
- Sophomore guard Joey McLean scored six points in the final 31 seconds to secure James Madison's 56-52 win over College of Charleston in Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball action at TD Arena on Feb. 11.
- The Dukes gritted out the win in a battle between two of the league's best defenses, bouncing back from a nine-point deficit in the second half to improve to 19-7 (9-4 CAA) on the season. Charleston, which had won four straight home games going into Thursday's action, fell to 15-9 (7-6 CAA) with the loss.
- Senior guard Ron Curry notched his 18th consecutive double-digit performance with a game-high 16 points, adding four rebounds before a knee injury ended his evening after just 27 minutes. The Pennsauken, N.J., native has now scored at least 16 points in five straight contests.
