- Sunday is Youth Cheer/Dukettes Day as well as Daddy-Daughter Date Day, presented by Cici's Pizza. Dads that purchase an adult buffet meal at the local Cici's Pizza restaurant will receive a free buffet meal for their child along with a ticket to the women's basketball game. The offer is valid Friday, February 19 - Sunday, February 21. For more information, please visit JMU promotions.
- The Dukes are coming off an 83-63 win over William & Mary on Friday night, stretching their win streak to 12 games. JMU holds a home win streak of 14 games, dating back to last season, and a streak of 37 home games played in front of 2,000 or more fans.
- Senior guard Ashley Perez returned from injury in Friday's game against William & Mary, contributing 12 points in 14 minutes played.
- Towson is looking to bounce back from a 56-40 loss to Drexel in Philadelphia, Pa. on Friday night. The Tigers were led by freshman guard AJ Timbers with 16 points, followed by freshman guard Sianni Martin with 14.Â
- Earlier this season, JMU defeated Towson 64-57 on Friday, Jan. 22 in Towson, Md. Three Dukes recorded career-highs in the contest, led by junior forward Da'Lishia Griffin's 21 rebounds while sophomore guard Hailee Barron netted 17 points and freshman forward Savannah Felgemacher tied a career-high two blocks.
- Last time out, senior guard Angela Mickens tallied five assists as she moved into second on the JMU all-time assists chart. She currently sits at 609 for her career, 62 dimes away from becoming the all-time leader.
- JMU holds a 39-3 advantage in the all-time series against Towson, taking 10 of the last 11 meetings of a series that began with a 31-20 JMU win on March 10, 1923. The Dukes are unbeaten against the Tigers in Harrisonburg, Va., with an 18-0 record.Â
- FORMAT:Â Instead of two 20-minute halves, women's basketball games will now have four 10-minute periods with an intermission between the first and second periods and the third and fourth periods as well as a 15-minute halftime intermission.
- FOULS:Â A player will be awarded two free throws for each common foul committed by a team starting with the fifth team foul in each period - there are no more 1-and-1 situations. Team foul counts will reset at the beginning of each period.
- TEAM-CALLED TIMEOUTS:Â Each team will have four timeouts to be used during the course of the game (three 30-second timeouts and one full 60-second timeout). Three timeouts carry over to the second half; if no timeout is taken in the first half, a team loses one 30-second timeout. If the game goes past regulation, one 30-second timeout is awarded for each extra period, plus the remaining second-half timeouts.
- MEDIA TIMEOUTS (2:45 in length):Â There will be seven media timeouts during regulation time: three prior to halftime and four after halftime. The intermission between the first and second periods as well as the intermission between the third and fourth periods will count as media timeouts. Each period will have one media timeout at either the first team-called timeout of the period OR the first dead ball at or below the five-minute mark. A floating media timeout will take place during either the third or fourth period at the first team-called timeout. This will not eliminate the set media timeout of that period.
