ANNAPOLIS, Md. – James Madison women's tennis won its second straight 7-0 decision, defeating Navy on the road to close out a busy stretch with a 3-2 record (1-0 CAA). The Mids fell to 7-3, snapping a three-match win streak.

Junior Timea Guibe and freshman Bella Heidenreich opened the scoring for JMU, routing Summer Ralston and Josie Rogers 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. Guibe also proved to be the match-clinching point in singles, taking down Amanda Keller in two sets (6-2, 6-1) at the No. 1 position.

Freshman Abby Amos and junior Rebecca Harris secured the doubles point for JMU with a 6-1 decision over Sam Droop and Catalina Rico at the No. 1 position.

After teaming with junior Rachel Nelson to finish the doubles sweep, freshman Emma Petersen blanked Anastasia Kondrasov in straight 6-0 sets at No. 6 singles to give JMU the 2-0 lead. Sophomore Kimmy Herrock made it a 3-0 lead for the Dukes with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Droop at No. 4 singles.

Three Dukes battled to three-set wins to round out the JMU scoring. Harris came from behind at No. 5 singles to win over Katie Porter (3-6, 6-1, 6-2), followed by Amos' tiebreaker victory against Claudia Mackenzie (6-2, 4-6, 10-4). Nelson closed the day with her own come-from-behind point (7-5, 4-6, 10-1) over Kristine Rojo at No. 2 singles.

JMU is off from competition next weekend. The Dukes return to action at the Greenbriar in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. against Morehead State (Feb. 20) and West Virginia (Feb. 21).

QUOTING HEAD COACH JAMES BRYCE
"Today was a great test for us. We had to stay very focused on our game plan, which helped us through because Navy always plays hard and has a great roster. We started doubles the best we have all year, so that is a positive. We will use our week off to get some rest and work on a few things so we are prepared for Morehead State and West Virginia."
