HARRISONBURG, Va. – No. 6 James Madison split with Colonial Athletic Association foe Elon in a combined 22-inning doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Hunt Softball Park. The Dukes moved to 41-4, snapping a 42-game conference win streak with a 16-1 mark in the CAA, while the Phoenix went to 26-23 and 9-8 in league play.
Junior infielder Madyson Moranled the Dukes with five RBIs, with four coming in the extra-inning decision, along with a pair of homers on the day.
In game two, JMU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third with a sac fly from Good and an RBI walk from junior outfielder Taylor Newton. The Dukes tacked on five more runs in the fifth with singles from senior infielderJailyn Ford and junior infielder Niki Prince, followed by a two RBI double from redshirt freshmanJessica McCabe.
Moran capped the day with a solo homer in the sixth securing the 8-1 win.
In the first game, Moran lifted a sac fly to left field in the third to open JMU's scoring and tie the game at 1-1.
Sophomore pitcherMegan Good held the Phoenix off the bases through six consecutive innings after the first, forcing the game into extra innings after seven complete.
Moran gave JMU the lead in the top of the 10th with a two-run homer, before the Phoenix responded with two runs in their at-bat, tying the game for the sixth straight inning.
With each side plating a run in the 12th, the Dukes headed into the 15th tied at 4-4. Elon earned the win with a one-out, walk-off single to centerfield from Shutt.
Good (27-2) picked up the win in game two with four innings pitched. Ford (14-2) was credited with the game one loss after she replaced Good in the bottom of the tenth.

James Madison set a program record with a 15-inning game against the Phoenix, beating the previous record of 12 set in 2004. The last time JMU went into extra innings was earlier this season in a 2-1, eight-inning win at Arizona State on March, 13.

Moran tied a career-high with four RBIs, using a two-run homer and a two-RBI single to right field.
McCabe went 2-for-3 in her first collegiate start, driving in two runs and setting career-highs in hits and RBIs.

JMU at Elon was one of three games in the Colonial Athletic Association that went into extra innings Saturday afternoon. Towson defeated Delaware 2-1 in eight innings before falling to the Blue Hens 4-3 in game two, while UNCW took down Drexel 5-2 in eight innings.
