HARRISONBURG, Va. - Elon scored six runs in the sixth inning to seal a 9-2 win over James Madison on Saturday afternoon in the second game of a three-game weekend series at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Dukes, who dropped to 18-24 (8-9 CAA) in the loss, tallied nine hits on the day, but Elon turned four double plays and took advantage of four JMU errors to improve to 21-23 (11-8 CAA) on the season and level the weekend set at one game apiece.

Senior shortstop Chad Carroll led the way for the JMU offense, going 3-for-4 with a double to mark his third multiple-hit performance in the last five contests. Sophomores Adam Sisk and Zach Tondi each added a pair of hits for the Dukes, with Tondi notching JMU's other extra-base hit, a leadoff double in the ninth that would eventually see him score on a balk.

Elon starter Jordan Barrett kept the Dukes off-balance throughout, scattering seven hits across seven complete innings and yielding just one run while striking out three to improve to 3-3. Sophomore Colton Harlow (2-4) took the loss for the Dukes, though freshman Matt Marsili provided a bright spot for the pitching staff with a pair of hitless innings that saw him strike out four.

After the Phoenix went up 3-0 with a pair of runs in the second and one more in the fourth, JMU cut the lead to two with a run on three hits in the bottom half of the fourth. However, a sixth inning that saw Elon plate six runs on five hits and three walks put the contest out of reach for the Dukes.

Second baseman Nick Zammarelli, the reigning CAA Player of the Week, continued his hot streak for the Phoenix with three hits on Saturday after tallying four on Friday.
