HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison men's soccer held much of the possession against La Salle on Tuesday night, but fell 1-0 in a non-conference tilt at Sentara Park.
The Explorers won their third game in a row to improve to 5-1-0, while the Dukes dropped to 0-5-1.
JMU played in a formation with three forwards, resulting in a 14-6 advantage in shots. Freshman Niclas Mohr led the way with four shots of his own.
In the 75th minute, La Salle's Colman Kennedy headed in a long throw-in from Zach Rutherford to give La Salle a 1-0 lead, one of just three shots on goal for the Explorers.
The Dukes' best scoring opportunity came in the 28th minute when junior forward Joe Vyner directed a header towards goal, but it rang off the crossbar. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Kyle Morton got involved in the offense in the 89th minute, getting forward for a corner kick and smashing a header that was saved on the line.
