10/21/2017 4:20:00 PM | Men's Soccer
BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Manuel Ferriol scored an 83rd-minute game-winning goal that pushed the James Madison men's soccer team over Northeastern, 2-1 in Colonial Athletic Association play on Saturday. With the win, the Dukes extended their win streak to four games and improve to 8-5-3 (4-1-2 CAA) while the Huskies fall to 2-11-3 (1-5-1 CAA) on the year.
Game Recap
29' | Sophomore Ben Dao scored the team-high sixth goal of the season off a pass from sophomore Tim Estermann
43' | The Huskies evened the score two minutes before half from six yards out
83' | Ferriol scored his sixth goal of the season, which is tied with Dao for the team-lead, from outside of the box to the top right of the net
Foley's Remarks
Overall Thoughts…
"This was the typical CAA battle. The guys managed the game well. When Northeastern tied the score right before half, the guys kept their focus and stuck to the game plan in the second half which led to the opportunity to score another goal. Give credit to Northeastern, they are very physical and tough team. Now we have to focus on closing the season out strong."
Inside the Box Score
JMU tallied 20 shots with half of the shots being on target. The Huskies tallied 11 shots with six on goal and four corners in the match. Redshirt freshman TJ Bush racked up five saves and improves to 6-3-1 on the season.
Up Next
The Dukes will play their last non-conference match of the regular season on Oct. 25 at Sentara Park against Penn State at 7 p.m. There will be a JMU Beanie giveaway for the first 100 students!
