NASSAU, Bahamas - Freshman guard
Darius Banks notched the best scoring effort of his young career on Sunday afternoon, but James Madison fell in its final game of The Islands of the Bahamas Showcase, as UTSA picked up the 90-77 victory over the Dukes.
JMU (1-4) saw four players score in double figures and outrebounded the Roadrunners (3-2) by a 33-31 margin, but UTSA went 28-of-52 (53.8 percent) from the field, including a 56.3 percent (18-of-32) clip in the first half, to build and hold its lead above six points for the entire second half.
Banks tallied 15 points to lead the Dukes, going 7-of-13 from the field and making his only free throw across 25 minutes, besting his previous high by six points in the loss. Guards

Stuckey Mosley continued their run of strong play with 14 and 13 points, respectively, while junior forward
Develle Phillips added a career-high 10 points and grabbed seven boards for the third time in five games.
After a frantically-paced opening minutes that saw the Dukes make their first six shots and UTSA hit four of its first seven, the Roadrunners used an 18-7 run to take a 24-19 lead with 9:41 to play in the first half. JMU would not get back within three, with UTSA pushing the lead into double-digits for good with 15:24 left in the contest.

"This was another game where I can't question our guys' effort at all. They came out ready to go from the jump, but we need to be able to execute better on both ends. We had some defensive lapses at bad times and gave up some offensive rebounds when we absolutely shouldn't have. We're looking forward to getting home and getting back to work."

The Dukes will return home this week as they welcome Appalachian State to Harrisonburg for a 4 p.m. game on Wednesday, Nov. 22. On Sunday, the Mountaineers picked up a 76-72 win over UTEP on the final day of the 2017 Puerto Rico Tip-Off to improve to 3-2 on the year.
