HARRISONBURG, Va. - Five Dukes reached double figures in a balanced, team effort as James Madison dug out of an early deficit to defeat Delaware 77-42 in a Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball game on Friday night at the JMU Convocation Center.
JMU won its fifth straight contest to improve to 17-6 overall and 10-2 in the CAA. UD dropped to 13-10 overall and 7-5 in league play.
Redshirt senior Precious Hall posted her career-best 23rd straight game of double-figure points with 18 points to lead all players. Redshirt junior Amber Porter tallied 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks for the Dukes while junior Hailee Barron posted 11 points on 4-for-4 shooting with a trio of 3-pointers along with five assists and three steals. Freshman Lexie Barrier made it two double-figure games against the Blue Hens this season with 11 points, three assists and four steals. Sophomore Aneah Young added 10 points and six boards.
JMU trailed 12-3 in the early minutes before the Dukes rallied with a 16-0 burst to grab the lead. Delaware climbed within one at 23-22, but the Dukes never relinquished the lead as Hall finished the first half with a three and opened the second half with another trey as part of a 12-0 run. The Dukes led by at least 20 from the midpoint of the third quarter while pulling away for the 35-point victory.
Sade Chatman led the Blue Hens with 14 points while Erika Brown added 12 points and four steals.
STEALING THE SHOW
Barrier (4), sophomore guard Logan Reynolds (3) and Barron (3) combined for 10 steals as JMU matched a season high with 13. The Dukes forced eight of Delaware's 21 turnovers in the third quarter when they pulled away from the Blue Hens by a 21-8 advantage in the stanza.
HIGH FIVE TO DOUBLE DIGITS
For the first time since the CAA opener vs. UNCW, the Dukes boasted five in double figures. All nine Dukes who saw minutes scored.
HAPPY AT HOME
The Dukes have played in front of at least 2,000 fans in 49 straight games at the Convo.
BENCH POWER
JMU outscored Delaware 26-2 from the bench, including a 16-0 mark in the first half. Two of the five Dukes in double figures came off the bench (Amber Porter-12, Lexie Barrier-11). On the defensive end, 18 of the Dukes' 33 individual rebounds came from off the bench, led by a team-high eight from sophomore forward Savannah Felgemacher.
P2K+ Precious Hall had her 23rd consecutive double-figure performance and 101st of her career. Her 18 points pushed her career total to 2,051. She needs 71 points to take over second place on JMU's career scoring chart from Tamera Young (2,121 points).

UP NEXT
JMU continues its home-and-home weekend on Sunday, Feb. 12 against CAA-leading Elon. The Dukes and Phoenix tipoff at 3 p.m. because the game will air on American Sports Network. The contest is also the second Duke Dog Reading Day of the season, and doors will open at 1:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as heavy traffic is expected.
