The Dukes won their fourth game in a row to improve to 5-1 overall, their first four-game win streak since the end of the 2016 regular season. The Bulldogs fell to 2-4 on the year.
Redshirt senior first baseman Brett Johnson tied a JMU record with three home runs, including two in the third inning, and tied his career high with eight RBI. Juniors Ryan Coale and Zach Tondi also hit home runs in the inning to give JMU a 14-0 lead. QUOTING COACH IKENBERRY
"Our offense was impressive today. Zach Tondi set the tone with a big two-out double in the first and Brett Johnson had a career day! It was great to see a lot of new faces get some action today and I was proud of Cam Vassar coming in a getting his first career win. I was happy with how we pitched out of jams and kept scoring runs all game."
UP NEXT
The Dukes finish their three-game set in South Carolina with a game at USC Upstate tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Cleveland S. Harley Baseball Park.
