HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison baseball split a doubleheader with NJIT on a rainy Saturday at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park, winning 9-8 behind junior outfielder Adam Sisk's walk-off double and falling 11-5.

The Dukes moved to 13-4 on the year, with the Highlanders now 3-13 on the season.

After NJIT scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take an 8-6 lead in game one, JMU scored three runs of its own in the bottom of the frame to take a 9-8 walk-off win. Junior shortstop Kyle McPherson earned a bases-loaded walk to cut the lead to 8-7, before Sisk hit a two-run double to left field to give the Dukes the victory.

The Dukes initially built a 4-0 lead in the third inning through RBI doubles from freshman second baseman Fox Semones and redshirt junior designated hitter Zach Tondi. Freshman right-handed pitcher Kevin Kelly (3-0) earned the win for JMU, while Rex MacMillan took the loss for the Highlanders.

NJIT jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game two before an hour and a half weather delay knocked starting pitcher Cam Vassar out of the game. The Highlanders scored three runs on three hits and two errors once the delay was over in the second inning to go up 5-0. The Dukes mounted a comeback in the seventh inning led by junior left fielder's Jack Hamner leadoff double, but could only cut the lead to 9-5.

Vassar was the losing pitcher (1-1) while James Sofield (1-0) earned the win for NJIT.

"It was awesome for our guys to come back from behind. Obviously Sisk had the big at-bat and drove in the winning run, but the guys in front of him got on base too. Unfortunately, we didn't get the big hit in game two. Tomorrow's going to be a good game, I feel good with Josh Silvestri on the mound as a guy that can go for a lot of innings."
