VILLANOVA, Pa. - James Madison men's tennis bounced back from an early deficit to capture a 4-2 road win over Villanova on Friday evening.
The Wildcats (10-8) swept the doubles point, though the Dukes (12-8) picked up at least three games in all three matches.
In singles, JMU immediately took the lead with wins by junior
Theophile Lanthiez (No. 5; 6-1, 6-2) and freshman
Damon Roberts (No. 1; 6-3, 6-4). After senior
Brett Moorhead dropped a hard-fought match at No. 4, senior
Sebastian Salinas put the Dukes within a point a victory with a 7-6 (0), 6-3 win at No. 3.
Freshman
Paul Mendoza clinched the win at No. 2, battling back after a 6-2 loss in the opening set. After facing a pair of match points in the second set, Mendoza forced a decisive third set before prevailing in a tiebreaker to seal the contest for JMU.
