COLUMBUS, Ohio – The James Madison men's soccer team defeated Pitt in its final matchup in Ohio, 1-0 on Sunday.

The Dukes improve to 1-0-1 while Pitt falls to 0-2 on the season. Redshirt freshman TJ Bush improves to 1-0-1 on the year.

35' | Redshirt Junior Billy Metzler knocked in the only goal by following up his shot attempt that was blocked and netted the ball from 12 yards out.

The Dukes outshot the Panthers 13-5 with four shots coming from Metzler. JMU's defense held Pitt to only one shot in the second period. Pitt did not have a corner kick in the first but finished with five while JMU saw three corners a period. Bush completed a shutout with three saves, all coming in the first period.

"This was a great team effort. The team followed the game plan and tactics to a tee. The goal by Metzler was a great goal and the team played great defense to make sure that we secured the lead."

Team's Weekend Performance
"This team has great quality since they are a young team being successful against an ACC and C-USA team. It is tough playing two games within 48 hours, but the team managed to fight through it and work hard to gain a win."

Tough Defense
"Prior to the game we, as a team, discussed how we wanted to defend Pitt and the entire team stuck to the plan. The defense applied relentless pressure starting with Joe Vyner working very hard up front. TJ Bush had an outstanding game as well as an outstanding weekend."
