HARRISONBURG, Va. - Junior
Stuckey Mosley drilled a long three-pointer with 8.7 seconds left to cap a 13-3 run across the final 90 seconds and force overtime on Thursday night before James Madison pulled away for a huge 85-74 Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball win at the JMU Convocation Center.
The Dukes (5-15, 1-6 CAA) trailed Elon (12-8, 4-3 CAA) by a 63-53 margin with less than two minutes remaining, their biggest deficit of the contest, before two free throws from freshman
Darius Banks kicked off a wild stretch that closed with Mosley's trey.
The Dukes never trailed in the extra period, as Mosley got a layup to fall on a runout off the tip, giving JMU the lead for good as it held the Phoenix to 2-of-7 shooting in overtime and hit all nine of its free throws to seal the come-from-behind win.
Banks posted a career night in the win, racking up 20 shots and a staggering 15 boards, both career highs, in addition to three assists, a block and a steal across 43 minutes. Mosley led all scorers with 24 points on the evening, with none bigger than his three from the left wing to force overtime. His ninth 20-point effort of the year included six boards, three assists and a steal.
Three other Dukes scored in double figures, giving JMU five double-digit scorers for the second time in three games, with freshman
Matt Lewis and senior
Ramone Snowden each tallying 14 and junior
Develle Phillips adding 11. Lewis added seven boards and four assists, while Phillips notched six boards and a career-high five assists.
QUOTING COACH ROWE
