TOWSON, Md. – James Madison swim & dive opened the 2018-19 season on a high note, picking up wins over Colonial Athletic Association foe Towson and Georgetown.

The Dukes improve to 2-0 and 1-0 in CAA meets, while the Tigers hold a 1-1 record and the Hoyas finished the meet with a 1-2 record.

MEET NOTES
- The 200-yard medley relay team of
Paige Assaid,
Megan Marsh,
Jillian Breeger and
Bonnie Zhang opened the meet with the Dukes' first first-place finish, clocking in at 1:44.99.
- Zhang then finished in first in the 200 freestyle, 1:50.83, four seconds ahead of the Towson swimmer.
- She also was the first-place finisher in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.63 as Breeger took second with a time of 51.95.
- Assaid kept the Dukes rolling with her 57.51 win in the 100 backstroke event, just barely beating out Georgetown for the top spot.
- In the 200 IM, Assaid added her second first-place finish of the meet with a time of 2:08.63.
- In the 50 freesyle, Breeger stood atop the podium after clocking in a 23.82 first-place finish.

Emily Gross kicked off the diving portion of the meet with a 256.80 score to grab the top spot in the 1-meter diving event.
- In the final event of the day, the 400 freestyle relay team of Zhang,
Sydney Kirsch,
Kristie Darmody and Breeger took the win with a time of 3:27.79.

The Dukes open their home slate Thursday, October 18, hosting Duquesne for a 5 p.m. meet. They host Liberty on Saturday, October 20 at 11 a.m.
