JMU Nation,
Heading into family weekend at James Madison University, we are thankful for the many groups who comprise the JMU Athletics family. That obviously starts with our coaches and student-athletes and includes many other groups, but with the launch of Duke Club Week, we particularly want to thank our donor family, the thousands of JMU Duke Club members, and encourage others to get involved to support our student-athletes.
As I shared in my
last Bourne Dialogue, JMU Athletics experienced incredible success both on and off the field in 2017-18. That success included records of $2.63 million raised for our annual fund, $4.46 million in total giving and 4,502 total Duke Club members. For this year, we've launched the 'Drive for 5' with the goal of raising that record to surpass 5,000 donors for JMU Athletics.
Duke Club Week presents the perfect opportunity to contribute to the Drive for 5 and impacting JMU Athletics in such a positive and meaningful way. The Duke Club is the fundraising arm for our Athletics program. Dollars raised through the annual fund support scholarships and competitive opportunities for JMU student-athletes. Other fundraising efforts support facility needs, various departmental initiatives such as the Dukes Lead program or university capital campaigns.
In addition to our annual fund, there are several ways to support the Duke Club in a more focused program.
More details on all the ways you can support the Duke Club can be found at
JMUDukeClub.com. Keep an eye out for #ProudAndTrue buttons, which will be distributed during Duke Club Week. Share a photo featuring your button on social media and help us spread the word why you are #ProudAndTrue in support of your Dukes!
I encourage you to participate in a full schedule of events outlined below for Duke Club Week as we celebrate you, the loyal members of JMU Nation who make the student-athlete experience at James Madison the best in the nation. In addition, look for extensive content on Duke Club social media and web platforms to celebrate the week. Event highlights include:
