BLACKSBURG, Va. - James Madison cruised past 12-seeded Virginia Tech, 3-0, on Sunday evening to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time since 1995. The Dukes picked up their 13th shutout of the year, improving their record to 15-4-3 while the Hokies finish their season at 11-7-3.

For the third consecutive NCAA match, the Dukes scored first, starting with a goal in the 17^thminute. JMU would tack on two more goals in the second half to secure the victory.

HOW THEY SCORED
17' | Junior Niclas Mohr sent a ball inside the box, looking to connect with a teammate, but Virginia Tech was unable to control the ball and gave JMU the first point of the match on an own goal.
50' | Redshirt sophomore Carson Jeffris beat the Virginia Tech defender and raced down the field to face the keeper one-on-one, where he was able to take his time to tap in his eighth goal of the season.
58' | Graduate student Yannick Franz made it 3-0 as he curled his free kick into the right side of the goal for the first time this season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
JMU edged the Hokies in shots, 12-11, and took eight shots on frame. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper TJ Bush tallied his 13^thclean sheet while grabbing four saves which is the most he's had to make since Elon on Oct. 27.

FOR HISTORY'S SAKE
-This is the first time a Colonial Athletic Association team has made it to the NCAA Quarterfinals since 2004.
-JMU made it to the Quarterfinals back-to-back years in 1994 and 1995.
-The Dukes are one shutout shy of tying a season record of 14 shutouts which was set in 1988 and tied in 1993.

The Dukes will travel to East Lansing to face Michigan State in the Quarterfinals of the 2018 NCAA Championship on Dec. 1. The match is slated for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
