Dukes Reach CAA Final With 2-0 Win Over the Tribe

HARRISONBURG, Va. - For the first time since 2014, James Madison men's soccer is headed to the Colonial Athletic Association tournament final, to face Hofstra, by defeating William & Mary 2-0 in the semifinals on Friday night at Sentara Park.
Redshirt sophomore Carson Jeffris led the match with three points after firing the game-winning goal in the first half.
HOW THEY SCORED
36' | Junior Manuel Ferriol dribbled down the field and sent a perfect through ball to Jeffris who struck into the upper-90 for the game-winning goal while notching his seventh of the season.
56' | Sophomore Tom Judge scored off a give-and-go, starting in the midfield before passing off to Jeffris from 30 yards out. Jeffris found Judge inside the box who scored on a left-foot finish into the right corner of the net.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Led by redshirt senior Billy Metzler who registered three shots, the Dukes outshot the Tribe 10-5 with three on frame. Sam Onyeador made one save for William & Mary while the Dukes' defense spared redshirt sophomore TJ Bush from seeing any action in the net.
FOR HISTORY'S SAKE
-The last time the Dukes made it to the CAA final they won the title in 2014.
-JMU is looking to win the program's sixth conference title.
-With the 2-0 shutout over the Tribe, Bush has earned his 11th clean sheet of the season, tying an individual single-season record set by Alan Mayer in 1972 and tied by Josh Kovolenko in 2000.
-This is first time the Dukes have faced the Pride in the CAA Championship match.

"It was a great all-around effort from our guys tonight and I'm proud we kept another shutout. We played a complete game and the guys seemed excited for the moment. We now have to switch our focus to Hofstra who played very well in the other semifinal game. I'm pleased with this group and their efforts tonight, but now we need a result on the biggest stage."
