HARRISONBURG, Va. – Six former JMU football standouts are currently affiliated with NFL franchises as they prepare for the final three weeks of the regular season.
The list of 53-man roster athletes includes Chicago Bears tight end Daniel Brown, Green Bay Packers safety Raven Greene, Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Aaron Stinnie, Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Earl Watford and Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Josh Wells. Additionally, Dean Marlowe is a safety on the Buffalo Bills practice squad.
Daniel Brown | Tight End | Chicago Bears (9-4, 1st in NFC North)
Brown has played in all but one game for the Bears, who lead the NFC North division by 2.5 games over the Vikings. Just two weeks ago, Brown successfully recovered an onside kick against the Giants, beating Odell Beckham Jr. for the possession. With three games to play, Chicago can win the division and earn a home playoff game for the wild card round with one more win or a Vikings loss over the final three weekends. The Bears are currently projected to be the No. 3 seed in the NFC Playoffs, holding a game lead over NFC East leader Dallas.
What's Left for Chicago: Week 15 vs. Green Bay; Week 16 at San Francisco; Week 17 at Minnesota
Raven Greene | Safety | Green Bay Packers (5-7-1, 3rd in NFC North)
Greene has played in eight games for the Packers during his rookie season. So far this season, he has four tackles, one pass breakup and a fumble recovery. He recovered his first career fumble in week six against San Francisco. Four weeks later, he was the talk of Lambeau after recording his first career sack and taking a fake punt 26 yards on a direct snap against Miami. With three weeks to play, the Packers are a game back of the Vikings for the final wild card spot. After this week's matchup against NFC North leader Chicago, the Titans' final two outings come against teams with losing records.
What's Left for Green Bay: Week 15 at Chicago; Week 16 at New York Jets; Week 17 vs. Detroit
Aaron Stinnie | Offensive Line | Tennessee Titans (7-6, 3rd in AFC South)
Stinnie has played in one game this season as a rookie with the Titans, making his pro debut against San Diego in a neutral-site game in London at historic Wembley Stadium. Tennessee is making a December surge for the postseason, sitting in a four-way tie at sixth in the AFC, at 7-6. However, the Titans are behind the Ravens, Colts and Dolphins in tie-breaking scenarios, so the next three weeks are crucial with two of three coming against NFC East foes with losing records, followed by a Week 17 showdown against Indianapolis for what could be a play-in game to the postseason.
What's Left for Tennessee: Week 15 at New York Giants; Week 16 vs. Washington; Week 17 vs. Indianapolis
Earl Watford | Offensive Line | Cleveland Browns (5-7-1, 3rd in AFC North)
Watford has appeared in 10 games for the Browns, who picked him up right before the start of the regular season. Cleveland has seen much more success behind rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield, which included a big win over a potential playoff team in Carolina last weekend. The Browns must win out and get help along the way to secure the final wild card spot, as they're currently 1.5 games back of Baltimore. The next two games are against teams with losing records, followed by the Week 17 matchup against the Ravens.
What's Left for Cleveland: Week 15 at Denver; Week 16 vs. Cincinnati; Week 17 at Baltimore
Josh Wells | Offensive Line | Jacksonville Jaguars (4-9, 4th in AFC South)
Wells has played in five games this season, making three starts for the Jaguars, however, he was placed in injured reserve following week five at Kansas City. Jacksonville outlets reported this week that Wells is expected to be activated off IR, according to Head Coach Doug Marrone. The Jags have been eliminated from the playoffs and play a pair of division opponents to end the season who could be playoff bound in Miami and Houston.
What's Left for Jacksonville: Week 15 vs. Washington; Week 16 at Miami; Week 17 at Houston
Dean Marlowe | Safety | Buffalo Bills (4-9, t-3rd in AFC East)
Marlowe was activated for one game earlier this season, making a start against Tennessee in week five. He recorded four total tackles, including three solo stops and a pass breakup in the 13-12 win. He's spent the rest of this season with Buffalo's practice squad. Back-to-back four-point losses to divisional foes have eliminated the Bills from the playoffs and the schedule is daunting with matchups with AFC East leader New England and Miami still on the docket.
What's Left for Buffalo: Week 15 vs. Detroit; Week 16 at New England; Week 17 vs. Miami
