HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison's late push was not enough to hold off Elon in the series finale, as the Dukes fell short, 6-4 in Colonial Athletic Association baseball action at Eagle field on Sunday afternoon.

JMU fell down 2-0 going into its half of the first inning, then Brown hit an RBI single to bring the score to 2-1 after the first. Two singles in the fourth and fifth inning, plated one run each for Elon before Brown hit his second RBI single in the fifth to put the score at 4-2.
Â
Elon drew back-to-back walks to increase its lead, 6-2 after six innings. In the eighth, a wild pitch-third strike scored the final two runs for JMU, leading to the final, 6-4.
Â
QUOTING COACH IKE
"We did not pitch and play defense when we needed to today and we gave up too many free bases which led to two runs for Elon. Conference games aren't easy and we learned that over the series, so now we have to take what we learned and continue fighting and continue to get better every day."

UP NEXT
James Madison will face in-state foe VMI on Wednesday in Lexington, Va., with first pitch slated for 6 p.m.
