GREENVILLE, S.C. - The James Madison men's golf team moved up a spot on the leaderboard on Sunday afternoon, taking home seventh place at the Furman Intercollegiate, hosted at the par-72, 7,031-yard Furman University Golf Course.

The Dukes carded a 300 on a cold, windy final day of competition, one that saw only two of the 21 teams break par to close out the tournament. JMU moved up a spot to finish in sole possession of seventh, one stroke ahead of Gardner-Webb and Francis Marion.

Junior
Ben Tucker led the way for the Dukes in the final round, using two birdies and an eagle on the par-5, 524-yard 15th hole to card an even-par 72 on the day. The loop pushed him 28 spots up the standings as he finished in a tie for 58th in the 123-player field.

Freshman
Ignacio Montero kept his hold on a tie for 48th with a 3-over 75 on Sunday, while senior
Jack Floydd carded a 4-over 76 to close the week in a tie for 54th. Junior
Shota Ozaki finished tied for 14th, highest of any Duke, after a final-round 77, while sophomore
Quinn Tardif closed out JMU's scoring with a 79 that tied him for 63rd.

Playing as an individual, senior
Matt Cowgill closed his tournament in a tie for 26th, wrapping the weekend at 4-over 220 (72-69-79).

The Dukes will be back in action two weeks from now, when they travel to Kannapolis, N.C. to take part in the Irish Creek Collegiate, hosted at The Club at Irish Creek on April 7-8.
