HARRISONBURG, Va. - Despite outshooting Saint Joseph's by a 17-9 margin on Sunday afternoon, James Madison dropped a tough, 2-1 decision to the Hawks in non-conference women's soccer action at Sentara Park.
Â
Sophomore
Ginger Deel scored the Dukes' lone goal on the day on the strength of three shots, while junior
Haley Crawford led the way with a career-high eight shots. In all, JMU put six of their shots on goal to SJU's three, but couldn't find a breakthrough in the second half.

HOW THEY SCORED
JMU
25' | Deel provided an equalizer for the Dukes midway through the first half, with junior
Lizzy Lazzaro heading a corner from junior
Phoebe Dinga back into the area, leaving Deel with a one-touch shot from six yards to bury her second of the year.
Saint Joseph's
13' | Morgan Bower opened the scoring with her second of the season pouncing on a header from Taylor Ryan in traffic and poking home a six-yard shot to put SJU up, 1-0.
53' | Ryan herself picked up the gamewinner against the run of play early in the second half, burying a penalty kick inside the left post after an SJU attacker was taken down in the box.

QUOTING COACH WALTERS
"We're really disappointed with today's result. We knew how dangerous Saint Joseph's would be on corner kicks and they proved it on the first goal. We have to bounce back quickly with Penn State coming to town. We created enough chances to win this game and played some our best soccer of the year, but we need to play a complete 90 minutes to get the results."
