HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison field hockey fell 5-2 to American on Friday evening to close out a three-game homestand. The Dukes outshot the Eagles 16-13 but were unable to get it passed goalkeeper Maura Jacobs.

The Eagles scored two of their goals in the opening five minutes of the game to jump ahead 2-0; a lead they would hold onto until halftime. American jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Dukes tallied their first goal of the game with under 15 minutes to play.

- Rigg tallied her first goal of the season and 38th of her career which puts her solely in 13th on the all-time goals list
- Mayer tallied her first goal of the season and 9th of her career
- Megan Guzzardi tallied two defensive saves and the third of her career. It was the first time she notched more than one defensive save in a game
