HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison field hockey fell 5-2 to American on Friday evening to close out a three-game homestand. The Dukes outshot the Eagles 16-13 but were unable to get it passed goalkeeper Maura Jacobs.

The Eagles scored two of their goals in the opening five minutes of the game to jump ahead 2-0; a lead they would hold onto until halftime. American jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Dukes tallied their first goal of the game with under 15 minutes to play.

Megan Guzzardi tallied two defensive saves and the third of her career. It was the first time she notched more than one defensive save in a game
