Dukes Edged By Hawks

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison field hockey fell 3-2 at #16 St. Joseph's on Friday afternoon. The Dukes held the lead early in the second half, but two goals by the Hawks in the period gave St. Joe's the victory.

St. Joseph (5-2) outshot the Dukes (2-4) 21-10 as the Hawks held JMU to just five shots per half. St. Joe's was awarded seven penalty corners compared to JMU's two.

- L. Gippe tallied the first multi-goal game of her career
- Caitlin Nelson notched a career-high nine saves
- Nelson completed her third complete game in the cage
- This was just the eighth time playing a team ranked #16. The Dukes are now 5-3 overall when playing the #16 ranked team. This also marked just the first true road game against a #16 team
- Of the eight teams JMU has played who have been ranked #16, this is the third game played on September 21.
