DURHAM, N.C. – #4 ranked Duke used four goals in the second half to push past James Madison field hockey 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. This was the most saves in a game by a JMU goalkeeper since 2011.
The Blue Devils (7-2) held a 33-3 advantage in shots over the Dukes (2-5) allowing JMU to take just one shot in the first half. The Dukes took just two corners, both coming in the first half compared to Duke being awarded 10.

GAME NOTES
- This was the first game for Duke against an unranked opponent
- JMU played their 100th game against a Top-5 opponent All-Time and was unable to secure their first true road victory against a top-5 opponent
- Caitlin Nelson recorded a new career-high 12 saves in the game, making six stops in each half
- Nelson's 12 saves was the most for a JMU goalkeeper in a game since Margo Savage tallied 15 at Northeastern on September 30, 2011.
- Second game of the season for Duke scoring at least five goals
- This was just the second game Sammi Stelle (Duke goalie) did not record a save. The other game was against Syracuse where they did not allow an Orange shot
- This was the first game for the Dukes with under five shots since they took just two against Delaware on November 6, 2016
- JMU's two corners are the least awarded penalty corners since against their one at Delaware on November 6, 2016. They have recorded two penalty corners on three other occasions since than with this being the second-straight game with 2 corners
