BROOKLINE, Mass. - James Madison racked up 16 shots on Sunday afternoon, putting six on frame, but Northeastern was able to use a pair of second-half goals to hand the Dukes a tough, 2-0 road loss at Parsons Field in Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer.
Â
The Dukes (5-7, 2-1 CAA) held the edge on the stat sheet, particularly in the first half, when JMU held a 9-3 edge over the Huskies (7-6-1, 4-0 CAA) and did not allow a shot on goal. Northeastern rebounded after the break, however, outshooting JMU by a 9-7 margin, putting six shots on frame and using a corner kick and counter attack to provide the final margin.
Â
Junior
Lizzy Lazzaro racked up a match- and career-high five shots on the afternoon, to lead the Dukes, while freshmen
Morgan Sherman and
Hannah Coulling each added a pair. Junior goalkeeper
Hannah McShea tallied four saves in the loss, the third time in four matches in which she has notched at least four.

HOW THEY SCORED
Northeastern
59' | Eve Goulet provided the eventual gamewinner just before the hour mark, getting her head to a corner kick from Hannah Rosenblatt and bouncing a shot across from that caromed over two JMU defenders and dipped below the crossbar to make it 1-0.
72' | The Huskies sealed the match with 18:38 to play, catching JMU on the counter when Kerri Zerfoss and Lizzie George played Nicole Gorman long, allowing her to cut inside off her left foot and tuck a shot just inside left post.

QUOTING COACH WALTERS
"We're very disappointed with the result today. We played a great first half where we kept a very good Northeastern team at bay and were unlucky to not finish a goal, but the second half was a different story. Northeastern raised their level and we couldn't find the right combination of players to swing things back our way.
Hannah McShea was fantastic in goal for us again; she made two world-class saves to keep us in it."
Â
"This is a big moment in our season to see how we respond to this match. I just want to get back to training right away, so we can keep working towards being the team we know we're capable of being."
