THE FIRST ROUND
- James Madison hosts a NCAA Tournament match for the first time since 2011, where the Dukes defeated Wake Forest 2-0 in Harrisonburg, Va.
- JMU will host the Campbell Camels for the first time since 1993. The Dukes and Camels are deadlocked with an all-time series record of 1-1-0.
- Tickets for Thursday's match are $8 at the gate or you can purchase online in advance at www.jmusports.com
- Shuttles to and from Sentara Park will be available on Thursday. The buses will run from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. from Godwin Transit, Varner House and Festival.
- The Dukes earned an automatic bid to the tournament after winning the Colonial Athletic Association Championship match 1-0 in double overtime. JMU defeated top-seeded UNCW last Sunday.
- Campbell received an automatic bid to the tournament, after defeating High Point 4-1 in the Big South Tournament Championship. The Camels enter play on a 14-match unbeaten streak (13-0-1).
- This will mark the second consecutive season that the Dukes will open the NCAA Tournament with a Big South opponent. JMU holds a 17-6-4 record over current Big South members.
PUNCHING THE TICKET
- The Dukes enter the First Round with a 11-6-3 overall record while going 5-2-1 in conference play.
- James Madison won the CAA Tournament championship title in 2019, defeating UNCW 1-0 in double overtime.
- JMU earned the No. 2 seed in the CAA tournament, earning a bye and hosting a neutral site quarterfinal match. The Dukes then played No. 3 seeded Hofstra in the semifinals. JMU and Hofstra would need extra time for the second consecutive season to determine a winner. The Dukes advanced to the CAA title match on PK's 4-3.
- Niclas Mohr's left-footed shot with 3:26 remaining in double overtime punched the Dukes ticket to the big dance. Mohr dribbled from just outside the box to the area before ripping a shot to the top left corner.
JMU NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
- This is the 14th appearance for JMU in the NCAA Tournament and its second consecutive appearance. The Dukes advanced to the quarterfinals last season, before falling to Michigan State 2-1.
- The Dukes hold a 7-13-1 all-time record in the tournament and have made it as far as the Elite Eight in 1994, 1995 and 2018.
- In 2018, the Dukes opened the NCAA Tournament on the road, traveling to Big South opponent High Point. JMU would then head to ACC foe UNC, before defeating Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The winner of Thursday's first round advances to Charlottesville, Va. for a second-round matchup at top-seeded UVA.
- That game will be played Sunday, Nov. 24 at 1 p.m.
