GREENSBORO, N.C. – A sweep of the doubles point for the third straight match and four straight-set victories in singles propelled James Madison women's tennis to a 6-1 win over UNC-Greensboro at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.
The win was the Dukes third consecutive, improving them to 9-6 on the dual season, while UNCG fell to 5-10.
In doubles action, JMU rolled on all three courts conceding just four games.
At No. 2, freshman
Daria Afanasyeva and reigning Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, senior
Emma Petersen dominated UNCG's duo of Emily Ory and Brianna Gomez 6-0.
On Court 3, freshman
Amanda Nord and junior
Jona Roka raced past Sophia Adams and Eugenia Camacho 6-1 to clinch the doubles point and JMU's early 1-0 lead. The victory was the tandem's third consecutive since becoming a pair at last Friday's match vs Towson.

Daniela Voloh completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win at No. 1.
In singles, Nord claimed her sixth-straight win at No. 6 in straight-set fashion over Ory 6-4, 6-2 to increase the JMU lead to 2-0. The win improved Nord's dual mark to 6-2 and her singles record to 13-2 on the academic year.
At No. 1, Afanasyeva rolled past Nancy Bridges 6-3, 6-1 for her third consecutive singles win, while pushing the Dukes lead to 3-0.
With JMU on the cusp of match point, Petersen claimed her 83rd career singles win, in a 6-2, 6-2 dispatching of Camacho on Court 5 to clinch match point at 4-0.
With the match clinched, Roka defeated Gomez 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 for her third straight singles win to increase the JMU advantage to 5-0.
The lone point for Spartans on the afternoon came from Erika Barquero who needed a third-set super tie-break to take down Voloh 7-5, 3-6, 1-0(3) at No. 3.
With JMU leading 5-1, Amos was the lone match on court for the second consecutive match. This time after dropping a second-set tie-break, Amos battled past Adams 10-5 in her own third-set super tie-break to close the afternoon and the 6-1 result.

Nord, Petersen, Roka and Afanasyeva all increased their singles win-streaks to at least three matches following today's result.

DOUBLES DOES IT AGAIN
JMU increased its record to 8-0 when claiming the doubles point and to 27-0 over the last two dual seasons.

The Dukes will resume CAA play tomorrow morning with a matchup against the Phoenix of Elon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
