RICHMOND, Va. – Following a pair of conference wins and a strong week between the pipes, James Madison redshirt sophomore goalkeeper
Molly Dougherty was named Colonial Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Aided by a stout defensive effort in JMU's wins at Delaware and against Towson, Dougherty turned in stellar goalkeeping numbers, making 25 saves with a .714 save percentage and a 5.0 goals against average.

In Friday's win at Delaware, Dougherty registered 15 saves, including 12 in the first half, while only allowing three goals (.833 save %). She finished the week Sunday by making 10 more saves (.588 save %) against rival Towson. Dougherty conceded just one goal in the first half of each game, allowing JMU to lead wire-to-wire in both victories.

Dougherty has now won CAA Defensive Player of the Week twice, as she also garnered the award back on March 12.

Through the first week of conference play, Dougherty leads the league in goals against average (9.28) and save percentage (.530) while also ranking third in saves per game (9.54).

Tenth-ranked JMU hits the road for a pair of CAA matchups this week, as it travels to Drexel on Friday and Hofstra on Sunday.
