Marcus Marshall and Rashard Davis Sign NFL Contracts with Kansas City Chiefs

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Former James Madison football standouts Marcus Marshalland Rashard Davis have both signed contracts with the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League, the organization announced Tuesday.
Marshall and Davis were both signed following successful tryouts during the team's minicamp over the weekend in Kansas City. The two never overlapped at JMU, as Davis finished his career in 2016, and Marshall transferred in prior to the 2017 season.
Marshall, who played two seasons at JMU from 2017-18, played in 24 games with the Dukes. During his time in Harrisonburg, he had 221 rushes for 1,296 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 5.9 yards per carry. He also tallied 22 receptions for 150 yards and a score. As a junior in 2017, he rushed rush 850 yards and 11 touchdowns and averaged 22.5 yards as the team's primary kick returner, earning VaSID First Team All-State honors.
Between his two years at Georgia Tech and two years at JMU, Marshall finished his collegiate career with 2,574 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns, averaging 6.4 yards per run. He also caught 28 career receptions for 286 yards and a pair of scores. Marshall is the son of JMU's all-time leading rusher, Warren Marshall, who also played one season in the NFL with the Denver Broncos (1987) after being drafted in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.
Davis was a four-year letter winner from 2013-16, playing in 50 games for the Dukes. He finished his career with 114 receptions for 1,549 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also had four punt returns for a touchdown, all in 2016 to lead the country, and threw one touchdown pass on his only collegiate pass attempt.
As a senior, he was a First Team All-American by STATS, the Walter Camp Foundation and HERO Sports while earning Second Team All-America honors from the Associated Press. Davis was a First Team All-CAA punt returner and was voted 2016 Colonial Athletic Association Special Teams Player of the Year.
Prior to the Chiefs, Davis had spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders, winning Super Bowl LII with the Eagles during his rookie season.
Marshall and Davis are two of 11 former JMU players currently signed to a NFL contract, which includes a list of six from JMU's 2016 national-championship squad.
