James Madison hits the road for the first time in Colonial Athletic Association action when the Dukes travel to SECU Arena to face Towson on Sunday. Tip is set for 2 p.m. with the game broadcast live on FloSports.
In its last contest, JMU defense was too much to handle for Elon as the Dukes topped Elon, 61-48 on Jan. 5.
Senior Kamiah Smalls posted her first double double of the season in a game-high 24 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Freshman Kiki Jefferson followed behind with nine points, four rebounds and two assists.
On the season, Smalls paces the team dropping 19.6 points (highest in CAA; 22nd in D1) while also snatching a team-high 2.0 steals (fourth in CAA). Senior Kayla Cooper-Williams leads the team with 9.8 rebounds (first in CAA; 37th in D1) and in blocks per game with 3.4, good for the fourth-most in Division I.
In its last contest, Towson cruised past Chesnut Hill, 86-49 on Wednesday night in SECU Arena.
In the game, four players scored in double figures led by Nukiya Mayo who posted a double double in 19 points and 10 rebounds, both of which are game highs. Shavonne Smith added 16 points and five rebounds.
On the season, Kionna Jeter leads the team averaging 18.0ppg (fifth in CAA) and grabs 3.2spg (first in CAA).
Sunday's contest will be the 50th meeting between the Dukes and Tigers with JMU holding a 44-5 lead.
On the road, James Madison has the series advantage with an 18-4 record, winning the last two meetings.
In the last meeting on March 3, 2019, the Dukes slipped past Towson, 63-56 to win a share of the CAA regular-season title. Then-junior Lexie Barrier scored a game-high 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
