- James Madison remains at home for its second contest of the season, as the Dukes welcome Buffalo to the Atlantic Union Bank Center (AUBC) on Monday. Tip is slated for 4 p.m. on FloSports.
- JMU opened the season in the AUBC with a 69-55 win against Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday. Sophomore Rayne Tucker posted a dominant double-double in a career-high 16 points and a career-high 18 rebounds.Â
- Head Coach Sean O'Regan (JMU, '03) enters his fifth season at the helm, boasting a 104-30 (.776) overall record as a head coach. Last season, Coach O earned his 100th win against Drexel on Feb. 28.
- The Dukes have six new faces in four freshmen - Annalicia Goodman (F), Peyton McDaniel (G), Jamia Hazell (G) and Steph Ouderkirk (F); and two graduate transfers - Anne Diouf (F, Georgia Tech) and Morgan Smith (F, Georgetown). Freshman Bailey Williams opted-out the season.
- JMU was selected to finish first in the Colonial Athletic Association by a vote of the league's head coaches. The Dukes received six first-place votes for a total of 76 points. Drexel (65) and Towson (60) round out the top three. Sophomore Kiki Jefferson and junior Brianna Tinsley garnered Preseason All-CAA honors as Jefferson landed on the First Team while Tinsley earned an honorable mention.Â
- Jefferson, 2019-20 CAA Rookie of the Year, dominated her freshman campaign as she earned the CAA Rookie of the Week nod nine times, which is the second-most in CAA history behind WNBA All-Star Elena Delle Donne. Last season Jefferson posted 9.8 points per game on an efficient 46.4 percent (98-of-211) shooting from the field and boasted a 39.7 percent (29-of-73) clip from behind the arc.
- Tinsley, transfer from Virginia, will finally get her chance to don a Dukes uniform and play after sitting out in 2019-20 due to NCAA transfer rules. Prior to transferring, in the 2018-19 season for the Cavaliers, Tinsley played in all 31 games with 27 starts, averaging 7.6 ppg, scoring in double figures nine times.
SCOUTING THE BULLS
- Buffalo will begin its 2020-21 season on Monday, making the trip to Harrisonburg to face the Dukes.
- The Bulls finished the 2019-20 season with a 19-12 overall record and a 9-9 record in the MAC.
- Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack enters her ninth year at the helm with a record of 162-98 with the Bulls. Overall, Legette-Jack boasts a 303-261 coaching record in her 19-year career.
