QUICK HITS
- James Madison will open its final weekend of the 2019-20 regular season with a trip north to face the defending Colonial Athletic Association champions, traveling to Northeastern for an 8 p.m. matchup at historic Matthews Arena.
- Last Saturday, junior guard Matt Lewis scored 18 points to lead four Dukes in double figures for the second game in a row, but a hot-shooting William & Mary team knocked off the Dukes, 78-74, in the final men's basketball game in the history of the Convocation Center. Junior Darius Banks added 12 point and a career-high six assists.
- Heading into JMU's second matchup with the Huskies, junior Matt Lewis leads the way with 19.0 points per game, while junior Darius Banks adds 12.5 points and junior Dwight Wilson is averaging a double-double at 10.4 points and 9.8 boards.
- Wilson's rebounding currently ranks third in the league, just shy of being one of just three players averaging double digits, and his 53.3% clip from the field is second in the CAA, while sophomore Deshon Parker is second in assist-turnover ratio at 1.9.
- Lewis, Banks and Parker are all averaging double-digit scoring in their career matchups against Northeastern, with Lewis leading the way at 14.4ppg. Parker has been efficient, shooting 51.6% from the floor in his three games, while Banks has nine steals in four.
- Heading into the final regular-season weekend, Lewis sits just 15 points outside of JMU's all-time top-five scorers, having scored 1,518 points already, with Darren McLinton (1992-96) sitting in fifth at 1,533.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- Northeastern had lost five of its last seven games prior to picking up a 77-68 victory at Drexel this past Saturday that moved them to 14-14 (8-8 CAA) on the season and into sole possession of the crucial No. 6 seed in the CAA standings.
- Senior guard Jordan Roland continues to score at a remarkable clip to lead the way for Northeastern, entering Thursday averaging 23.1 points per contest, sixth-most in Division I, having already scored 30 or more points in six different games.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Dukes enter Thursday looking to snap a five-game winning streak for Northeastern that dates back to Feb. 4, 2017, when JMU took down the Huskies in a 73-69 thriller at the Convocation Center.
- The burst, which includes an 88-72 Northeastern victory in Harrisonburg on Dec. 30 of this season, has pushed the Huskies' advantage in the all-time series to 21-7, including an 8-3 advantage when the two teams meet in Boston.
- In the meeting earlier this year, junior forward Dwight Wilson posted a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double, but the Huskies used a 16-0 second-half run to hand the Dukes the 88-72 loss. Sophomore Deshon Parker racked up a then-career-high 19 points and six assists on the evening, while Jordan Roland tallied 33 points on 12-of-18 shooting to lead the way for Northeastern.
