AUSTIN, Texas – James Madison softball's
Sara Jubas was named to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division I Softball Second Team, as announced by the committee.

The 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division I Softball Teams feature 14 members with a 4.0 GPA and 19 members with at least a 3.90 GPA as either undergraduate or graduate student-athletes. Student-athletes were selected based on career statistics.

Loren LaPorte. "Sara's dedication and work ethic emulates the true meaning of being a successful student athlete. Jubas is so deserving of this award. We are so proud of Sara for becoming the first ever Academic All-American in the program's history! "

Jubas is the first JMU softball player to receive the honor while becoming the 20
th student-athlete to receive the accolade. The junior maintains a 3.98 GPA majoring in biology and is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District Team member while earning a spot on the university's President's list for five consecutive semesters.

On the field, Jubas holds a career batting average of .375 going 144-for-384 with 28 doubles and 26 home runs. At shortstop, she holds a career fielding percentage of .917 with 168 putouts and 217 assists.

This season she recorded five home runs and 26 runs in 19 games, while holding a batting average of .439. The infielder maintained a .925 fielding percentage with 19 putouts and 30 assists.

Jubas is a 2019 NFCA All-Northeast Third Team selection, 2019 VaSID All-State First Team, 2019 All-CAA Second Team and has been selected CAA Player of the Week three times in her softball tenure at James Madison.

Despite the cancellation of spring competition due to COVID-19, CoSIDA continued its sponsorship of the Academic All-America awards program.
