HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison could not find an answer to Northeastern's hot shooting from behind the arc and suffered a 77-69 setback in Colonial Athletic Association women's basketball action in the Atlantic Union Bank Center on Tuesday afternoon.

The Huskies (3-6, 2-4 CAA) lit it up from deep, sinking 50 percent (11-of-22) of their attempts to earn their first win against the Dukes (7-5, 3-2 CAA) in Harrisonburg.

Peyton McDaniel led the way for JMU with 20 points on 46.7 percent (7-of-15) shooting from the field to go along with four rebounds, one steal and one block. Sophomore
Kiki Jefferson followed behind with 14 points, seven rebounds, a game-high tying four assists and two steals.

Jamia Hazell added 10 points, her seventh double-digit outing of the season with a rebound and an assist. Stella Clark led the way for Northeastern with a game-high 28 points, five rebounds and four assists.

How It Happened
The Dukes were feeling it in the first quarter, knocking down four three-pointers while limiting the Huskies to 25 percent (3-of-12) from the field to take a nice 17-10 lead after 10 minutes. Northeastern completely flipped the switch in the second, posting 21 points in the quarter to take a tight 31-29 lead into break.

Both teams battled back-and-forth in the third frame with the Huskies holding on to a tight 54-48 lead after 30 minutes of action. In the fourth, JMU stuck with Northeastern for the most part and would eventually get within three (61-64, 5:13) but the Huskies matched JMU's scoring throughout the rest of the game to earn the win and split the season series.
