RICHMOND, Va. -Â James Madison goalkeeper
Florien Marcussen and midfielder/forward
Cassidy Strittmatter both earned Colonial Athletic Association Field Hockey weekly awards after helping the Dukes pick up two wins against No. 20 Delaware and Temple this past weekend, the league announced Tuesday morning.
Â
Marcussen was named the CAA Player of the Week, while Strittmatter was named CAA Rookie of the Week.
Â
The Dutch goalie faced 22 shots and recorded nine saves in the two games, not allowing a single ball in the back of the net. Her 4-0 Delaware and 2-0 Temple shutouts were her fifth and sixth of the season. She leads the CAA conference with the lowest goals-against average (1.54).
Â
Strittmatter was the first JMU rookie to earn Rookie of the Week this season after her impressive showing this past weekend. Against Delaware, she assisted one goal and was pivotal in keeping the possession in the Dukes' favor. The New Jersey native also recorded her first career defensive save against Temple, helping the Dukes shutout the Owls.
Â
The Dukes will be back at the JMU Field Hockey Complex this weekend, taking on CAA opponent Drexel and Louisville.
