WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The James Madison field hockey team secured the first seed in the Colonial Athletic Association championship tournament with their 3-2 win over William & Mary Friday evening at Busch Field.

The Dukes improved to 11-6 in the regular season and 6-0 in CAA play, while The Tribe fell to 3-12 in the regular season and 3-3 in CAA play.

Courtney Lynch started off the scoring for the Dukes, bringing the Dukes to a tie in the first quarter.Â
Eveline Zwager earned three points in the match, checking off a goal and an assist to help with the win.

After a penalty corner goal from William & Mary,
Cassidy Strittmatter scored the game winning goal, securing the CAA sweep for the Dukes.

JMU was strong on defense, only allowing seven shots. The Dukes also had a 8-2 advantage in penalty corners to help with the win.
