TOWSON, Md. - The James Madison field hockey team defeated Towson 4-1 after a close first half Friday afternoon at the Towson University Field Hockey Complex.

The Dukes improved to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in conference play while the Tigers fell to 2-10 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Caroline Cahill started off the scoring for JMU, with
Diede Remijnse following with two additional goals.Â
Samantha Grimes tallied the final goal for JMU and
Kara McClure and
Rachel Yeager both garnered two assists.

JMU was strong on the defensive end, only allowing six shots, while the Dukes racked up 22 themselves. The Dukes also out-tallied the Tigers in penalty corners, going 11-3.Â

Florien Marcussen recorded three saves, while Towson goalkeeper Lena Vandam recorded 14 against the aggressive Dukes' offense.
