HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
The Dukes held ODU to just one basket on its first 11 shots as they took an early lead, but both teams struggled to generate offense, with the Monarchs cutting JMU's advantage to 20-17 at the 6:54 mark.
Â
On cue, back-to-back three-pointers from Hodge kickstarted a 10-2 run that pushed the Dukes' lead to 11 and JMU was able to head into the half with a 35-25 lead.
Â
Second Half
The Dukes were cold after halftime, as ODU chipped away at the lead with a strong inside presence, eventually taking a 51-50 lead with 2:42 to play. After a big offensive rebound and a JMU timeout, the Dukes were able to find Falden in the corner for a massive three-pointer that put JMU back on top.
Â
After ODU sank a pair of free throws to make it 53-53, the Dukes would score the final five points of the game, forcing a turnover in the run of play with 38 seconds left, then sealing the contest at 58-53 when Morse drew an offensive foul on an inbound play with six seconds to play.
