HARRISONBURG, Va. – The James Madison baseball schedule for 2021 has been released, as announced by head coach Marlin Ikenberry on Monday. The 33-game schedule features nine non-conference games mixed with 24 Colonial Athletic Association games against the four other schools of the South division.
"We are returning strong veteran leadership with this team," Ikenberry said. "I am excited to get this group back on the field to compete."
The Dukes will open the season on their home turf, welcoming Bowling Green for a weekend series on March 5-7. They then welcome VMI to Harrisonburg on Thursday, March 11 before traveling to Lexington for two games on March 13-14.
JMU opens up CAA play March 19-21 when the team travels to take on Elon, before hosting the Phoenix the following weekend to open up a 10-game homestand. The homestand will also include series against College of Charleston (April 2-4) and UNCW (April 9-11), before concluding on April 13 with a midweek game against VMI.
JMU will hit the road for nine games, first stopping in Charleston, S.C. to take on College of Charleston on April 16-18. The Dukes will take on William & Mary for two days as they will play a doubleheader on April 24 before game three of the series on April 25. The Dukes will close out the road trip in Wilmington, N.C. by taking on UNCW May 7-9.
The Dukes return home after a month away for a three-game series with William & Mary with a doubleheader on May 15 and a single game on May 16. JMU wraps up the regular-season with a two-game series with VCU, as game one will be in Harrisonburg on May 20 and game two taking part in Richmond, Va., May 21.
