HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison locked up Colonial Athletic Association-leading Delaware en route to a 65-62 Senior Night victory on Sunday at the Atlantic Union Bank Center.
The Dukes (12-8, 8-5 CAA) held the Blue Hens (17-3, 14-2 CAA) to a mere 26.9 shooting percentage (21-of-78) on the night to avenge from last night's tough loss and tie the season series at one apiece.
Sophomore
Rayne Tucker led the way for the Dukes once again as she scored a game-high 22 points on a hot 10-of-15 shooting (66.7 percent) while grabbing seven boards on the night. Fellow sophomore
Kiki Jefferson added 15 points, six rebounds and an assist.
How It Happened
JMU came out the gates firing on both ends of the court as the Dukes held Delaware to only seven points on 15.8 percent shooting (3-of-19) to jump out to a solid 21-7 lead after 10 minutes. The Dukes slowed down in the second but went into break with a 31-21 lead.
In the third, Delaware fought back but the Dukes responded well by holding a tight 45-39 lead heading into the final quarter. The Blue Hens put on a show in the fourth as they opened the quarter with an 11-4 run to gain the lead at 52-49 with 6:43 left.
Junior
Briana Tinsley came down the court after Delaware took the lead and went to work as she had an isolation play at the top of the key, ending in a step-back three that gave the Dukes the lead which it never relinquished.
