HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison Athletics, in response to the amended Executive Order 72 by Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, has announced plans to host more fans at home athletic events this spring effective March 1.
Â
The new mandate states that the total number of spectators in our outdoor venues cannot exceed the lesser of 30% capacity or 1,000 fans to allow for adequate physical distancing in seating areas as well as during ingress and egress.
Â
This change will allow for additional fans and students at football games played in Bridgeforth Stadium, where capacity will now be capped at 1,000 due to this executive order.
Â
Volleyball, softball, swim and dive and men's and women's tennis will not see an increase in spectators as they are already at the 30% of capacity restriction. Since no change has been made to indoor facilities, capacity increases will not be realized for the upcoming CAA Men's Basketball Championship in the Atlantic Union Bank Center.Â
Baseball, field hockey, lacrosse, men's soccer, women's soccer and track & field will see a slight increase in spectators and these tickets will be made available to the JMU student body. JMU students can reserve tickets on a weekly basis and can find more information at Student.JMUTickets.com. In the event any unclaimed tickets are available on game-days, tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis at the venue. There will be no charge for tickets, ticket availability is not guaranteed and tickets cannot be reserved in advance. Game-day ticketing will take place at the Kelsey Lane entrance for Sentara Park events, at the main ticket booth for Baseball and at the ticketing table for Field Hockey matches. For more information on ticketing or capacity limits for spring sports, please contact the Ticket Office at 540-568-3853 or athletic-ticket@jmu.edu.
Â
A limited number of tickets will now be available for each of the remaining regular-season home football games, and this allotment will be split between current JMU students, including the Marching Royal Dukes, and Duke Club members who made a 2020 Proud and True Fund donation.
Â
Student-ticket reservations will begin the week of March 8 with priority given to seniors and current Student Duke Club members. Students may visit Student.JMUTickets.com for more details and information on how to reserve and should watch their email for future updates.
Â
Duke Club members who donated to the 2020 Proud and True Fund will have the opportunity to request up to four tickets for one of the remaining home games, and requests will be filled in order of Duke Club priority rank. Eligible Duke Club members will receive an email with information on how to request tickets. They can also contact the Athletics Tickets Office at 540-568-3853 or by emailing athletic-ticket@jmu.edu to make their request.
Â
Due to the limited number of tickets, public ticket sales will not be available this season.
Â
In the event JMU hosts FCS playoff games this spring, a similar allocation will be used for ticket access, and details on ordering tickets will be shared at a later date.
