HARRISONBURG, Va. - Following a knee injury in the Dukes' matchup against Hofstra on Feb. 14, senior guard
Matt Lewis of the James Madison men's basketball team will miss the remainder of the 2020-21 season.
"I'm heartbroken for Matt and that he will not be able to compete with this team the rest of the year," Head Coach
Mark Byington said. "He had a special year and was a huge part of our success. I'm encouraged knowing that this is a minor injury and he will go on to a great professional career without any limitations."
Lewis will not have lasting effects and is expected to have a complete recovery over the next eight weeks. Due to student-athlete privacy, JMU coaches and staff will provide no further details of the injury.
The Dukes are set to conclude their regular season this afternoon against Drexel, tipping off at the Atlantic Union Bank Center at 4 p.m. on Friday.
