#1 JMU Returns to Gridiron Saturday at William & Mary

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The #1 James Madison football team is back in action this weekend as it travels to Williamsburg for a Colonial Athletic Association matchup at William & Mary on Saturday, March 27.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Zable Stadium. The game will be streamed on FloFootball and televised statewide on Cox Yurview. It can also be heard on the JMU Glo Fiber Broadcast Network, with pregame coverage beginning at noon.

 SERIES HISTORY
43rd meeting all-time between JMU and William & Mary
JMU leads 25-17, which includes an 11-12 record at Zable Stadium.
The series began in 1978, and JMU has not faced a team more than the Tribe.
The programs have faced off in all but one season over the past 42 years.
JMU has won four straight against W&M since 2016.
All-time, JMU has outscored William & Mary, 1,093 to 974, averaging wins by a 26.0 to 23.2 margin.
During the current four-game win streak, JMU has averaged victories by 41.5 to 11.0.
That includes a 38-10 win at W&M back on Oct. 19, 2019 - the last time the teams met.
 BACK AT #1 IN NATIONAL POLLS
Despite not playing a game since March 6, JMU maintained its #1 ranking, as it led the way for the fourth straight week in Monday's Stats Perform FCS Top 25.
JMU received 29 of 40 first-place votes, up one vote from a week ago.
Joining the Dukes in the top five were #2 North Dakota State, #3 Weber State, #4 South Dakota State and #5 Sam Houston State.
All five teams earned first-place votes, as NDSU claimed six, Weber State and SDSU each had two and Sam Houston collected one.
JMU was one of seven CAA teams to be ranked. Other league teams in the top 25 were #11 Delaware, #16 Villanova, #18 Rhode Island, #21 Richmond, #24 New Hampshire and #25 Maine. Albany also received votes.
 DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE, ESPECIALLY IN SECOND HALF
JMU's defense ranks as one of the nation's best, as it is top-10 in rushing defense (3rd - 31.0), total defense (4th - 163.7), scoring defense (6th - 11.0) and tackles for loss (7th - 9.3).
The second-half numbers have been staggering, which includes not allowing a single point in the second half.
In second halves vs. Morehead State, Robert Morris and Elon, JMU has allowed just nine first downs, -29 rushing yards, 118 passing yards, 89 total yards and 3-for-19 on third down.
In fourth quarters, the numbers are wild, giving up just three first downs, -32 rushing yards, 22 passing yards, -10 total yards and a 0-for-7 clip on third down.
