Alexander Named D1 Softball Player of the Week

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison softball redshirt senior Odicci Alexander has been named D1 Softball Player of the Week after her phenomenal performance during the College of Charleston series, as announced by the organization on Tuesday evening.
Alexander picked up her first national award of the season after posting a record of 2-0 in the circle, that included her first career perfect game and a one-hit shutout against Charleston. At the plate, Alexander went 3-for-6 at the plate with two home runs, seven RBI, an on base percentage of .667. She recorded three walks while scoring two runs for the Dukes as well.
The senior utility player pitched 12.0 innings, threw 25 strikeouts and only allowed one hit. She struck out 14 of the 15 batters she faced during JMU's 9-0 win over the Cougars in game two of the Saturday doubleheader. During her perfect five-inning game, she threw 11 consecutive strikeouts.
In the Sunday finale, she recorded 11 strikeouts only giving up one hit to the Cougars but shut them out to pick up her third shutout of the season. Â
Alexander leads the Colonial Athletic Association in ERA with a .82 while ranking seventh in the nation. She is sixth in the nation for strikeouts per seven innings as she averages 11.6.
