LOUISVILLE, Ky. - For the third consecutive season, senior
Odicci Alexander of the James Madison softball team has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Team, as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
Alexander was named Second Team All-American as a utility player/pitcher by the NFCA after leading JMU to a historic season and the Dukes' first-ever trip to the Women's College World Series this weekend. On the season, Alexander has posted a 1.14 ERA and struck out 186 hitters in 117 innings to lead the way since returning from injury.
Â
In the postseason, Alexander has raised her game to new heights, powering the Dukes through the Knoxville Regional and Columbia Super Regional.
Â
The senior set a new program record with 19 strikeouts across 10 innings to open the regional, picking up the win in all three victories in Knoxville. She followed that performance by opening her super regional with a 10-strikeout one-hitter at No. 8 Missouri, then led the Dukes to the WCWS with seven innings of four-hit ball in game three of the series.
Â
JMU has now had at least one player named an NFCA All-American for seven consecutive years, dating back to the 2014 season.
Â
The Dukes will open their first-ever trip to the WCWS on Thursday afternoon against top-seeded Oklahoma at 12 p.m. EDT. The matchup will be broadcast on ESPN.
